First stop...Bahamas!

Our trip started in the Bahamas, where most students flew in from all over the United States a few days before our departure date. It was really rough most of the time, seeing as S@S got us discounted rooms at the Atlantis. My pictures don’t really do it justice, you should check out the website and then be even more impressed I got to stay there. To add to the hardship, all of the students who were meeting each other for the first time were forced to bond over drinks in coconut shells on the beach inside the enormous resort. The place was so cool, it has its own island all to itself with bridges in and out of Nassau. There were aquariums everywhere, like, ten pools, and waterslides. There were shark exhibits where they had hammerheads just chilling, like five feet away from the railing into the water. One of the water slides even went through a shark tank, (through a clear tube, but you’re actually underwater with them) with some sharks that were probably about 6 feet long. If you can’t tell, the sharks made quite an impression on me.
On the morning of the fourth, we headed over to the docks and met even more S@S students, and the parents who came along were able to board the ship for a little bit. After they disembarked, the ship headed out and everyone (ok the girls) shrieked a lot and got excited. The first time we could see nothing but horizon was pretty cool, and dinner out on the deck under the hanging lights that go from aft to stern (I’m trying to speak nautical, but I don’t think I’ll ever get it right) were pretty sweet too.
